just a base The kids get a shot as well but this sets up the Leafs for 2025 when they will have the cap space

Unrealistic to sign two top dmen; Roy seems like a long shot & I’d steer clear of Pesce at that ticket - too much $ & term.
20 man roster not going to cut it, either.

This was a base and I don't think its unrealistic to get 2 top 4 D via UFA this summer does not have to be these 2. That needs to be the Leaf's priority this summer

Completely unrealistic:
1/ 20 man roster is not going to work
2/ you have Domi @ 2C which is less than ideal
3/ the bottom 6 is not competitive; Kampf is our 4C and does not produce offense - he can’t play 3C

Don’t sign Pesce or Domi (Roy is long shot imo but ~$5M on FA RHD makes sense) and re/sign Bush or Edmunsen (see who is better fit). Our D corps will not be our strength, they just need to be average. We have superstar talent up front, but would be ideal to sign a FA to play 2C and slot JT in @ 3C; maybe Cowan or Minten make the team which would be great too.

1 as I started this is a base they wont be 20 man
2. JT can slide into 2c/3c or Domi down to 3c
3. the bottom 6 will evolve as the Kids find their roles etc

I think its very important for the Leaf's to focus on bringing in legit top 4 D and not bottom pairing D and hoping for the best

What is about Leaf fans living in the past. Do anyone think it wise to sign 30 year old Pesce and Roy to seven year contracts.
20 man roster, no 7th NHL Dman, c'mon man.

The 25-26 season UFA d-men that contracts are up is very strong. Waiting for JT money off the books will be the time they sign 1 or 2 real top 4 d-men. Pesce isn't the physical presence the leafs need and Walker isn't overly physical either. Leafs need nasty guys if they are ever going to beat Florida, this defense gets steamrolled.

assuming the make it to UFA but I am not set on any one I just think they need to have a long term vision and focus on the D and goaltending
