Can't imagine Marchy would take anything less than 4 years and he'll probably want more money. I bet Hanifin wants something more like what Toews got ($7.25M). Also, you gotta think about re-signing Theodore and Hague next season and Eichel the year after that. But I suppose Vegas is a "worry about tomorrow when it comes" franchise so, who knows?

#1 candidate for me to be purged as needed is Howden. Then there's the question at D where I could see any of McNabb, Hague, Whitecloud, or Korczak moved out. I anticipate there will be at least one departure that is uncomfortable for fans to come to terms with.

IMO these are reasonable. Hanifin takes over for Martinez. Hertl takes over for Chandler plus cap increase. Mantha is discarded.

You forgot the $9.5M of LTIR/cap space to afford Guentzel $9M x 8

Marchessault specifically is going to make much more, at least what nichushkin makes plus the cap raise.

There are rumours that hanafin is already looking at a 8x7.5 deal

It is true that some guys take discounts to stay in winning situations and to play in low or no-tax states and in winning situations but it's also true the vast majority of them want to get their market value or at least close to it. On the open market, a guy Hanifin's age that does what he does as a 2D (and could be a 1D on a lot of teams) could probably get $7.5-8Mx7; it's probably wishful thinking to bet on him taking less than $7M even if you gave him the extra year. And with the cap going up, players are just going to want more money so that isn't really going to save anyone looking to re-sign significant UFAs looking to get paid big contracts.

IDK, JM this would be his 2nd UFA contract & he's already 33. He's a solid 50-60pt guy. He could get a Killorn type deal.

NF: $7M+ is #1 money; is Hanifin a true #1 guy?

March just won the conn Smythe, I'm sure a 4 year deal.could be had around 7 mill if not more,

Weekes has already reported the 8x7 deal from Vegas is close, what do you think he goes for on the open market..

Toews is a #2 and hes 7+mill, nurse and jones are crap and make 9+
