Bruins ideal roster imo for 24-25

Description
This is perfect imo. Center depth is now excellent, still not high end, but 3 really solid centers and then Zacha can rotate in if needed. Beecher is a solid 4C as well. Lysell is likely making the team next year. Looks ready now, but not the time to experiment. He's stayed healthy and looks better in Prov.

Lindholm is of course a free agency signing, so it's gonna be a bigger contract that I'd like. Realistically, 6.5m x 5 years is what he's worth, but 7x7 is fine by me. It's better than not having a 1c. Not sure a super high end 1c is quite as necessary given they have Pasta in his prime.

Debrusk should fit back in nicely as a versatile winger, with offensive upside. Defensive game is excellent, so offense is just a bonus imo. Barbashev's 5x5 is a realistic comp contract.

I hate moving on from Ullmark, and honestly if they did want to keep him, they could. Trading him could potentially land them a center, but who knows what's out there for centers. A first round pick seems reasonable as a return, or an equivalent prospect.

Lohrei is the only somewhat of a question mark, IMO it's best to take the risk and just let him take on this role. Every team has a question mark somewhere and I'm totally fine with some growing pains. I wouldn't want to sign another top 4LD to a big contract and get stuck with that and be at the cap. Taking advantage of his ELC is def worth it.

But having a more "complete" lineup, signing parts of the core long term, and adding Lindholm is a great start. Not to mention actually having cap space.

This first round pick has a reasonable chance of landing in the top-10. One year of Ullmark isn’t worth that imo.

Think Devils hang onto 2024 1st at this point. Devils would be more willing to part with their 2025 1st. My offer would be Bahl, Schmid, 2025 1st for Ullmark with 5x6 extension attached

My guess is the Bruins make him available for the best pick combination among the teams not on his no trade list to replenish the 2024 draft picks unless they formally decide PLD and Ullmark revisits because of an extension

You could ask him if he’s open to certain markets if an extension can be agreed to.

Any New Jersey deal would start with the Montreal 2nd round pick. If Seamus Casey is someone the Bruins like, he’d be interesting.

Zacha is a natural center. He’s better at center than wing. Winning 55% of faceoffs. Moving him to wing makes zero sense.

Another reason why chasing Elias is not really the right move.

His overall efficiency stats were much better last year vs this year. I’m completely OK keeping him at center if that’s the right decision, but I do believe Boston pursuing Lindholm from Calgary and Vancouver suggests that Sweeney isn’t sold yet.

Gives time to re-sign. And B's could add more depending on the draft. Ullmark def wants to be east/north, so I'd bet he'd resign.

That's fair too, I'd take that IF they do decide to move Ullmark and already have a center.

Agreed, Coyle can play wing too, but I do think it's still worth adding Lindholm because I don't think Zacha is as good of a center overall

NJ was never trading that pick lottery protected. I’m curious what Sweeney asked for that ended the conversation with NJ

Decent option. Not quite good enough imo, Lindholm is probably the lowest end 1C I'd make a strong push for. Stephenson seems more like another coyle/zacha

I know they’ve briefly spoke, but has there been further reports on Ullmark to NJ?

I think the assumption on Fitzgeralds comments about teams trying to extort was Sweeney, but it could have easily been Conroy with Calgary

I thought you guys got Montreal’s 2024 in the Toffoli deal. I was wrong

Or you go after Reinhart and leave the centers alone. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The 12.5 you spent on Elias and Jake would be better off on Reinhart and a LD

Reinhart would be sweet ngl. I just don't see how the B's can be contenders with lacking centers. Unless they find a way to bring one in later in the year or the year after, or if Poitras keeps developing who knows

I don’t think he’s leaving Florida. Competing against no state income tax where he currently lives and knows his role is tougher unless Florida is trying to get him for cheap

The current situation with Boston is probably the best fit for Lindholm.

I don’t imagine he will either. But until he is off the board…
