Slow Build

Created by: Marked_Difference
Team: 2024-25 Arizona Coyotes
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 11, 2024
Published: Mar. 11, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
There are a couple of potential deals to be made but for the most part AZ needs to stay the course and keep building through the draft. Slow and realistic building for the future.

A lot hinges on the land purchase for the new arena, as of now the land auction is slated for the same week as this year's draft.

AZ has little lottery luck so I am going to assume that they pick 4th or 5th. With the rise of Lindstrom, Demidov and Siliayev and some of the draft lottery teams lack of NCAA scouting I created Levshunov as the Yotes top 5 pick in 2024.

Kings need graduate their young elite defenders; I am assuming that they will make the choice to let Matt Roy walk to FA.

Vegas will need to make some harsh choices in who/how they resign their team with their limited cap next year. I think Marchessault is the odd man out. Offer him a one year heavy overpay to hold the fort on the right side of the top six.

  1. 2024 1st round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
Draft day deal. Assumption is WSH is picking at around 14-18.
WSH
  1. Schmaltz, Nick
Additional Details:
Schmaltz adds the fast puck moving forward the Caps really need with their lumbering offensive core. Someone to get Ovi the puck will be important.
2.

  1. Kelemen, Milos [RFA Rights]
  2. 2025 3rd round pick (NYR)

I would be outright shocked if the Ducks pass on Levshunov given they pick before Arizona and have a desperate need for a 1RD.

And I don't think Roy will come that cheap either.

Silayev is left shot but plays on the right side. 6'7" monster #1D seemed like a hard one to pass for the Ducks

Lev is ranked higher most places, and Verbeek seems to value experience on NA ice.

Armstrong isn’t moving Schmaltz for a pick. There’s a lot out there he would move him for, 14-18 range isn’t one of them

As a Caps fan, I'd accept.

What would AZ want / need (instead of a pick)?

Leonard. And since that’s never happening, I just don’t see it as a good trade fit

Alright well that's just ridiculous lol

The dude is good but has never reached above 60 points...and you want the Caps to trade a projected top RW power forward...? .

Come on, buddy.

I agree with you - THAT will never happen
