Take the money from Teuvo and give it to a proper RD. Of course, you also have to overcome the problem of convincing said RD (and Guentzel), but it'd be a more effective road forward to have another RD to support Minty & Zellweger while sheltering Luneau somewhat.

Come on, let's not pretend that Marner is signing long-term on a team that, despite adding Teravainen and Geuntzel in this scenario, is still worse than the Leafs overall, with an even worse right side of the defense. And it makes no sense for the Ducks to do that for a rental.

I feel like JG, Vatrano, Turbo and Terry are enough for a really good top 6. Why sacrifice solid returns on Zegras and Gibson just to be forced to pay top dollar for Marner or lose him after only one year?

This ducks roster isn't making the playoffs anytime soon anyway, they're still 2-3 years away so why would Marner sign there?
