Slow and steady wins the race. Same as they did with Crosby, Malkin, Fleury, Letang & co the first time around.

Only two of those salary retention slots can be used. Some teams will have LTIR space at the deadline, so who knows which will be which at this point.

Thanks for the reminder, I forgot about that condition in the Karlsson trade. It’s a good point, but I don’t think their decision rests on that alone. Also. It’s entirely possible that the Pens push this year and finish out of the bottom 10. Another bad Dubas trade that lacks foresight though…

Crosby gets far more than 2 cap dumps, a fringe NHLer, and a late 1st. You’d have to include a high end prospect++

Also a team fan only retain on 3 salaries at once and you have them retaining on 6
