I still say Rakell's contract being a year longer disinterests the Habs, why make this type of move? what do we gain? An extra year for a similarly overpaid forward who doesn't fit our roster needs. Habs want Abderson off the books sooner, it makes no sense for them to effectively add another year to his deal

Pretty much what i was gping to say.

Rakell can barelly be a .5 ppg guy getting exclusive time with either crosby or malkin, aggressive offensive sheltering, and premium 1st unit pp time with both of them.

Its not unreaspnable to suggest that he wpuld be even less productive than anderson if put in the role he currently occupies. Especially when all the underlying numbers say that he doesnt generate chances by himself but heavily relies on his linemates for that
