No, we're not trading the guy who leads our team in most offensive categories with a cap hit of $3.65 million for an over-the-horizon first, a redundant LhD who would be seventh on our depth chart there and a guy whom you'd rather not have on the roster than have.

Vatrano would now be a rental and there's no guarantee he matches last season's (2024) production, I'm not comfortable giving up a 1st for him.

He'd be a rental next season and likely doesn't want to sign with a team that's still rebuilding at his age.

What's this got to do with how $h!tty an offer this is?!?

Yes, Frankie set personal bests last season in assists and points and exceeded them this season with personal bests in goals, assists and points and he'll be a rental next season. All that argues in favor of trading him for what he's worth and if no one makes us an acceptable offer in the summer, trading him at the deadline in 2025 for what will still be a better package than this stew.

Mikheyev is a noticeable downgrade at a 30% increase in cost, and for an extra year, too. No chance that we'd want him or a LhD in a package for Frankie under any reasonable and realistic scenario.

Is that why he very publicly didn't want to be traded this year and wants to stick it out through his contract in Anaheim? The fact that he more than likely gets another three year extension with the team for how he's playing?

You know he was brought it for more than depth scoring right? He's a work ethic guy, Verbeek wants him here to show the guys how to grind out wins, never give up. I can't tell you how many games his first season that there were only two ducks giving a **** game in and game out for the full 60, and Frank was one of them.
