I'm not a big believer in getting rid of players by packaging them with second-round draft picks, and I'll bet that Stevie Yzerman isn't, either.

Yep, Holl will either be traded for "future considerations" to a team like Arizona that needs a contract or just bought out.

Also I think Raymond's next contract is going to start with an 8 and not a 7.

Either way Yzerman is going to be eating a warm sandwich with Holl.

Even his buddy GM's won't be doing him any favors here. LOL

I had Raymond at 7-7.5 but he could be in the 8 range now.

You could say that about most of SY's FA defense signings. smile

True.

But none of them are as bad as Holl.

But would Detroit really be any worse this season with Holl playing each night over Petry?

Petry's WAR is -.1 and Holl's is .6. So technically Holl has been better than Petry. But neither are good enough in the deployment Detroit has to use them in.

Petry wasn't an Yzerman signing, he traded for him...

While $8.7M I think is a possible number, gotta say, based on a lot of these threads it seems people are setting themselves up for unnecessary "Disappointment" with unrealistic numbers.

Seider's base is probably going to be if they can convince him to match Larkin at $8.7M. He could realistically strongarm them into $10M+. Hopefully a little less.

Ghost - has been really good for most of his time hear, good signing
Chiarot - has been really good for most part of this year, good signing
Holl - hasn't played much and has filled in just fine, fine signing
Petry - has played fine and wasn't a signing

Plus, none of the prospects were ready and other UFAs were either too expensive or didnt want to come....so once again, wrong.

First off, Petry was traded for. Second, he's been fine. Third, he's paid nothing and expires after next year. Fourth, no one else is/was available to play that position.

This team is over-achieving and in a WC spot. You don't think Petry has contributed to that success?

Maatta is actually good.
Ghost gets cratered at ES. One of the worst in the league.
Chiarot was terrible last year and has improved to just not good this year.
Holl is a replacement level D
