Description
I personally don't see the big draw to Elias Lindholm, he's not produced well throughout his career other than the one year with Goudreau and Tkachuk as his line mates. not sure he would be worth his reported asking price for 7 years. elected to try and sign a scoring winger and ride the centers out for now.

I don't think Detroit would love to move walman but I would probably accept the trade if ullmark would extend in the 6-7 a year range.

Rough trade for Detroit, they better extend Ullmark to make it worth it.

Doubt Detroit would consider it.

I think you are exactly right. I can see some Detroit fans liking it with an extension, but I doubt Yzerman would make the move.

Something I've thought about recently, what if the Bruins try to move Coyle while his value is at an all time high? They have two young centers who could play middle six (Poitras/Merkulov). Also makes room for Lysell.

If they can't get the value they are looking for out of Ullmark, they could shed cap that way. Not sure if it will happen and that would be a lot of rookies/sophomores on one team.

Don’t get me wrong, i think it’s an even worse trade for Boston.

But unless Ullmark comes with an extension AND they dump Husso, i don’t see why Detroit does it.

From B’s standpoint, they barely clear any cap space and add a #5 d man with an overpaid contract and a pick that averages a bottom 3rd of the roster type of player. Don’t really see the value for Boston either. Better off just holding Ullmark.

Walman has a nice shot will score some goals, and block shots, but does not create much, he’s a 20 point guy. Carlo is a 15 point guy and has no offense. He has decent size but does not use it. Grizz averages more hits per 82.

Boston can sign a number of D men in free agency for same $ or less than Wallman, get a better player, and not give up Ullmark to do it.

This is simply trading him for the sake of trading him. Unless they hit on that draft pick they have done themselves no favor. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Detroit could obviously use an upgrade at goaltender. They have a talented kid in the AHL, but I generally believe that throwing a young player in as a starter is generally a mistake.

The question is what’s the price. If it were a prospect like Wallindar and a late 2nd rounder, I think it is viable risk-reward for both sides. Boston gets an interesting D prospect plus cap room

I’m not inclined to trade him for marginal picks and prospects or cap dumps. Keeping Ullmark is fairly easy and I do think there is a cap health benefit of having $5m of expirings going into 2025-2026 when I look at our pending FA list.
