I think this offers more enticing than the previous one where Anaheim added a pick, but I question the wisdom of giving up a guy who looks to be a solid all around 2nd pair defenseman to acquire a 32 year old who took a big step back from the previous two seasons.

Seems like poor asset management on the Ducks part.

I think it comes down to ANA management’s pov and what they can do in the open market.

Minty is a lock and Zellweger looks awesome, so the only way they all have a chance to play and develop is by moving him, Fowler or Zell to the right side for the next 2 seasons. My choice would absolutely be to move Fowler. But if they swing and miss on FA RDs, I could imagine they look to do something like this

I’d say it’s a “maybe” from Buffalo

Idk that we even trade him?
I think we’ll try & keep him

But it we can’t agree on a contract, & we do decide to move him, it would probably be to replace him at RD2 or maybe for a 2way 3C, as opposed to draft picks

If we're going to send LaCombe out for a RHD I'd rather increase the assets given up to get one who will be able to be around for longer, a Hronek, Carlo, etc. acquiring someone who's petering put as our window opens doesn't make much sense.

Totally agree. In general my preference would be to keep Lacombe to be our 3LD, shift Fowler to 3RD for his last 2 years (or preferably move him, but that’s just me) , get a new 1/2RD in FA to pair with Minty, and then replace Fowler and Gudas with Luneau and Levshunov (🤞) when their contracts are up

Next 2 years:
Minty - Pesce/Roy caliber
Zell - Gudas
Lacombe - Fowler/Vaak

Long term:
Minty - Levshunov
Zell - Pesce/Roy caliber, possibly Warren
Lacombe - Luneau
