Why is Carolina paying more then the Islanders to unload KK. He's a young defensive specialist. Would assume someone would take him for their bottom six without adding all the extras.

Carolina laugh in your face. That's not enough for KK, forget Honka and the pick.

Wow, I wonder what else is added to acquire a 25pt player???

He had 40 points last year, and is still one of the best creators in the league at the age of just 23... add a fair bit

I think he is fatigued from collecting all those paychecks, lol.

Every player collects paychecks buddy... and, he's worth it. xGF/60 above 3 is NUTS. Especially for a depth player. Considering his strong defensive game on top of that, he's going nowhere without a drastic overpayment. He doesn't endure 3 months of the absolute worst luck, he's having another 40 point season. Just because you're only looking at the box score doesn't depreciate his value LMAO

Keep him! I wouldn’t want him if you added a 1st to the deal, he’s a 25 p player who had 1 season at 43 and got a dumb 8 year deal paying him way too much! He’s slightly better than Sturm making more than double.

Kotkaniemi is like Sturm and Bordeleau in one player. He's SO good defensivley, but he creates so much too. With semi competent linemates, he'd flourish. The issue isn't him here lmao. He's going to hit the 30 point mark again, and if it wasn't for 3 months of absolutely abysmal luck, he'd have 40 points again comfortably. To anyone that consistently watches him, this is a dude that could have had 50 points this year, but go by the box score and prove you do not know anything about him. That's cool too. He's immediately become your best center FWIW

It is typical that a 25 point player produces elite level offense! Dude you’re delusional! And we all have the same opinion as your coach does. Is he your brother or are you just in love with him?

40 point player that's an incredible chance creator. He's going to hit 30 points again in a year he went 3 months with the WORST luck. He'll be fine. I simply watch him, look at the analytics that confirm my suspicions, and don't blindly trust a box score. Stop it

Kevin Labanc had a 50 point season at the same age and fell off a cliff, one 40 point season means absolutely nothing

That's cool, but Labanc's analytics always suggested that he was going to go back to being mediocre at best. Kotkaniemi's suggest he's a major breakout candidate still. They're not comparable, stop it. Why do you have this agenda against Kotkaniemi?

We all know you have a crush on this guy! But your being ridiculous, like I said keep
Him we don’t want him he is overpaid and nothing more than a bottom 6 C who should be making 2.5 mil not 4.8

Because I can actually evaluate a player outside of a box score? Shut up buddy, you're clueless here.

Funny thing is Labancs analytics were not bad and made him look like a player ready to bread out and be a 50+ PPG but it never materialized and he fell off. Carolina will regret this contract and no one will Trade for him and this guy can keep worshiping and sniffing his jock straps for the forseeable future

Happily. He'd still be your best centerman. He's a strong middle six C on a good contract whose sensational in all three zones and is still only 23

He’s a massively overpaid C and wouldn’t hold a candle to Smith future or Granlund now. Even on this pathetic teams he’s at best their 2C

Yeah, they weren't bad, but they always made it clear he wasn't going to be a sustainable 50 point player. 30? Maybe. Kotkaniemi's analytics suggest genuine 60 point potential. 3.1 xGF/60 is considerably better than guys like Nick Suzuki or even Seb Aho so the analytics are there. His issue is consistency, but there's no way Carolina give up on a player brimming with the skill he has

Smith, maybe. Granlund he's better than. He walks into your 1C spot because he's a complete 200 foot player and Granlund sucks defensively

I’m glad you found a player to worship and root for. But he won’t be in a sharks jersey.
