Description
Habs make a major trade to acquire Zibanejad/Panarin hybrid superstar in Draisaitl!

Habs bring in Marchessault for secondary scoring while Roy matures.

Forgetting about their salaries, Gallagher, Armia, Dvorak, Evans are providing excellent bottom six play for this team. There is no rush to move on from any of these players as they would all bring value to a playoff team in a bottom 6 role.

Habs carry Anderson in a limited role for 1 more year and hope he can snap out of whatever is ailing him. If he has a bad start or shows up out of shape, send him to Laval next year.

Habs send RHP to Laval and risk losing him on waivers. His play has not been good this year.

The real gambit is how quickly Guhle/Reinbacher can swap positions with Matheson/Savard (who I see as a middle-pair)

I think this is a playoff team. What do you think?

You really want to play Reinbacher next year? Also, trading all of our pick to upgrade Dach to Draisaitl wouldn’t solve any of our problems. Our main problem is a lack of scoring in the middle 6. With Dach back and Catton/Lindstrom, we should be fine

I mean... I upgraded Dach & I added Marchessault. I also moved from Suzuki as a "weak" top line center to an "incredible" 2nd line center.

Yes I want to play Reinbacher in Montreal next year provided he keeps playing how he played this weekend. He was amazing 😍.

Mailloux & Reinbacher should be our only 2 rookies next season.

I love the size and skill if this defence core and I love our top 6.

This solves almost all of our problems.

Edit: Just to clarify. Draisaitl is hitting 100-120 points per season. That's a 60-80 point improvement on Dach's best production to date.

Heh McJesus - we want you to retire as an Oiler but we’re going to trade your partner - while you are in your prime and hunting cups - for a considerably worse player + futures. Shockingly, I think the Oilers say no 🤦🏻

There is a reality to what they will be ABLE to do in 2025-26 when they have to resign Draisaitl, Bouchard and 13 other players for 39M/season. They have 53M on 8 players. If they spend 13 on Draisaitl and 9 on Bouchard, that will leave them 17M to sign 13 players who can be competitive on a Stanley Cup team.

They will either have to dump cap like crazy, or sacrifice a core piece. I'm not saying it's Draisaitl and only Draisaitl, but I don't understand how they resign everyone while making the team better

I refer you to my earlier comment. Cap will be an issue and the Oilers will either have to dump some players or sacrifice a core piece.

Draisaitl is amazing for sure, but Marchessault is getting pretty old. He won’t be a top 6 forward anymore when we will be competing for a cup. So I would rather have Demidov, Dach and Hutson over Draisaitl and Marchessault.

Reinbacher has been very good in Laval, but I don’t think we should rush him. Look at this year in Kloten when he was rushed in a role too big for him. I’d rather have Barron and Kovacevic over Mailloux and Reinbacher.

It’s not that complicated - if Oil trade Drai, that pretty much means they are giving up hope of extending McJesus. He won’t abide a re-build or an re-tool or whatever their GM would use to try to explain trading Drai. Literally ZERO chance the Oil move him

Still trying to get over you calling Suzy a weak top line center, your Habs fan membership should be revoked for that comment.

My expectations for Zuke are for him to be a 60+ point player who is great defensively. That is an incredibly valuable guy, but he's not breaking defensive structures wide open game after game. He's on my top power play but not necessarily on my top line.
