24-25 Penguins Youth Movement

Created by: Fluxcc
Team: 2024-25 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 24, 2024
Published: Mar. 24, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
- Bring in a lot of youth, like Dubas wanted.

- Insider Pitt said management thinks Yager will be NHL ready this upcoming season.

- Have a shutdown D on every pairing.

- Sign NCAA free agent Collin Graf.

- Keep 2024 1st and draft Zayne Parekh, we need a successor to the Letang/Karlsson offensive right-shot D throne after they retire.

- Likely won't be able to move Graves for anything, so we keep him and hope he bounces back.

Definitely wouldn't be CHI, but I'm sure you could find a team with interest in Acciari.

I think that your Team Description sets forth an excellent strategy -- and the only one that makes sense for the Penguins.

As to the actual trades, I don't think that either SoCal team is interested in either player. Los Angeles needs to spend money on Matt Roy and goalies, and neither Smith nor Rakell is a long-term solution at RW for Anaheim and the Ducks don't need a stop-gap solution, either.

I just randomly chose any team, I don't care where they go, as long as they are off the roster to make room for young guys to come in.

I think you’re overly optimistic on PIT’s ability to move Rakell. An >30 year old winger seemingly declining on a $5M contract with 4 more years is an anchor. I love the guy as an ANA fan, but I wouldn’t take him back in ANA if you’d offered a late first with him tbh

That's fair and if we were stuck with him you throw him on 2nd line and bump everyone else down.

no chance they use that pick on a defenseman.
They will draft a center or top 6 capable winger. My guess is Iggy.

I would be happy with any of the forwards available in that 8th - 9th pick range as well, depending on which prospect ranking you're looking at: Catton, Iginla, Eiserman, Helenius would all be going around that range.
