That's fair. The picks and teams are really just placeholders, I don't really care what picks we get, as long as we aren't sending them for nothing.
This is a purely hypothetical team that would never actually happen anyways. No team is going to exclusively promote internally, not trade for a single player or sign a single UFA.

Says right in the description:
"Send them to any team that will take them, the teams listed are just placeholders, any team that wants them is welcome to them."
Any team that wants our vets and will give us picks to stockpile for our eventual full rebuild is more than welcome to them. We just need to offload them in this purely hypothetical scenario that would never actually happen.

I would definitely consider moving Eller and giving 4C to Ponomarev for the right return.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Thanks for the shout-out! (Too bad that the gif didn't come across -- I'll assume it was a smile!)
Actually, we have the same strategy in mind for the Penguins, which is to start creating room for the prospects now rather than waiting (and losing) another season. Trading Rakell, Smith, Eller and Acciari for whatever you can get for them would help Pittsburgh immensely. But that would be dwarfed by the accomplishment of signing Colin Graf.
If you do land in an 8 to 10 slot, I think that you should keep the pick. You might want to take a look at some forwards who should be available there or re-stock your RD pipeline with Parekh or Yakemchuk. Assuming that the 2025 pick will be earlier is just defeatism.
I know that Dubas mentioned Blomqvist but I'd let him marinate for another season by re-signing Nedeljkovic if possible.
What do you think of Teravainen?</div></div>
Haha, yeah it was a smile, I was just playing around.
I would LOVE Parekh, this kid is insane and could take over the offensive right-shot D throne from Karlsson and Letang when they're gone. I would hope that we can't bomb bad enough to a potential #1 pick in 2025 if we do go the youth route now, I am hoping it works kind of like the Capitals this year, compete for playoffs with the vets surrounded by young guys.
I think Teravainen is a great player and could fit well, but in the Mark Madden show yesterday Dubas kind of implied they wouldn't be going the UFA route. He said they will be acquiring assets and using those assets to target younger players that "have become disenchanted with their current teams".
I wouldn't mind Nedeljkovic back whatsoever, he has proven to be a good and serviceable 1B / backup goalie and as long as he isn't asking for a huge raise, I would definitely be open to bringing him back.

I definitely think Dubas needs to just focus on PoHO things and hire a GM and he can work with that GM on roster building. I would LOVE Jason Botterill, the AGM from the Seattle Kraken.

This is the approach that SJ had when Pavelski, Braun, Nyqvist, Donskoi, etc left in 2019-2020, of "letting the youth fill out spots in the lineup" and that resulted in Ottawa getting Stutzle at 3rd overall with the Sharks unprotected first</div></div>
That could very well be the case, yeah.

They were interested, if they still are we send him, if they aren't then we move him somewhere else. You have to stop with the You Pitt guys have to stop, Uno reversed.

Chicago got bedard so that means PIT gets Celebrini right
Celebrini would be great, don't get me wrong, but I absolutely LOVE Demidov! His hands are silky smooth and he makes exciting plays. That is exactly the kind of talent we need on the Penguins during the rebuild when the team is struggling, give the fans something to ooh and ahh about in the games. He would be very exciting to watch.

I would be happy with any of the forwards available in that 8th - 9th pick range as well, depending on which prospect ranking you're looking at: Catton, Iginla, Eiserman, Helenius would all be going around that range.

As to the actual trades, I don't think that either SoCal team is interested in either player. Los Angeles needs to spend money on Matt Roy and goalies, and neither Smith nor Rakell is a long-term solution at RW for Anaheim and the Ducks don't need a stop-gap solution, either.</div></div>
I just randomly chose any team, I don't care where they go, as long as they are off the roster to make room for young guys to come in.

The 2025 draft is deeper and has a lot more centers, but the top-13 of this draft is as strong, if not stronger than the '25 draft. Yes, we would hate to give up a top-5 pick, but I am still hopeful we can maybe turn it around this offseason and have a better year next year, might be wishful thinking though.

Bringing Youth Into The AHL And NHL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>the penguins won't get close to the top of the draft this year.
They are still financially stable. So the league hasn't hit the panic button yet. But when they realize they are dealing with another franchise that is not soluble and possibly on the verge of moving then things will change. When their revenue is down to the 120-150 mil per year like the rest of the bottom of the league and they start talking about moving again.... then the league will "do something" again.</div></div>
Surely the league would never rig a draft lottery to help a struggling team, SURELY. ;)

We are definitely regressing and the possibility is there we'd get an even better pick in 2025, but there are some major studs in that 8-10th range in this draft. We're going to need an offensive right-shot D when Letang and Karlsson are gone and Zayne Parekh fits that perfectly, Zeev Buium fits the role as well, just on the left-shot and hell we could maybe even get a really high pick if the lottery is in our favor. If we did luck out in the lottery and somehow got Ivan Demidov this draft. That is EXACTLY the kind of exciting, flashy player that the Penguins need for their rebuild.
