Not a fan of the 1st being in 2025 tbh. Since with Saros, i imagine that 1st is no longer in the lower 15 which is the allure of the 2024 1st.

Daws doesnt do much for Nashville since we have Askarov but it may not be bad to have another goaltending piece and with Saros/allen/schmid devils need someone to go. Casey is the right piece to get the things started.

Solid offer just not sure about the delay in the 1st. It does drop the overall value for nashville and raises the uncertainty alot but they also already potentially have a 2nd pick in 2025 with tampas and a potential 3rd could be enticing and if things go sideways and nyquist has another banger if a year could potentially get another at the trade deadline....

That's a lot to give up for one year of Saros. There are many UFA goalies that are certainly could be signed. Storlanz of Panthers has better stats this season and is a Jersey native. He's would seem to be a willing target.

I never do understand the "alot to give up for one year" when someone trades for a ufa. Unless the team is trading for a player with absolutely zero intent of extending the player.... the intent would be to extend long term.

Stolarz has also never played more than 28 games in a single season and only has 22 this season at age 30 (2 years older than saros).. if you want to bank on a career backup suddenly being your starting goalie be my guest.

Doesn't really matter if the team "wants to extend". The player who is about to become a UFA has a choice. But if the Devils want to take that chance fine, I just think there are just as good options in the UFA market.

You have 1 year of control, therefore you are trading for 1 year. The next years could be acquired for free in UFA, and regardless you will be paying a UFA price which doesn’t add to value

You are also trading for exclusive negotiating rights which you otherwise wouldnt have the abilty to even discuss terms with said UFA and get an extension done. Having a year to hammer out a deal adds value

It adds minimal value. Maybe a day 2 pick at the absolute most for the negotiating rights to a guy who you'll have to pay UFA money to
