Description
With so many guys coming up, I think the time is right to move Matheson.

I love watching him, but he's having a career year so his value is probably at an all time high. I'm worried he could become the next Anderson (contract-wise), and him leaving opens a spot for Hutson on the team and Guhle to take another step. I'm not sure what teams would be interested in him, but maybe a team that is trying to compete that has an expendable asset (ie. Pittsburg first if he hadnt already played there). I think it would be best to move him at the draft as teams don't overpay for offensive dmen at the TDL, and his cap hit will be easier to fit on a contender at the draft (without retention).

This would make Savard the "vet" on the back end, which sets him up to be moved at the TDL. After that, we have Reinbacher, Mailoux, Barron that could all be making a push for full time roster spots. I would still like to sign a cheap vet to help mentor the kids so we can keep them developing in Laval, but I think the time to move on from both guys is this season.

So you trade Matheson (a defensemen), to make space for defensemen, for another defensemen?

And I doubt teams will want an OFD with 48 points in exchange for a 1st+2nd+

Savard isn't worth a 1st even with retention, similar to Tanev a 2nd and a decent prospect at most.

Also Caps have a similar LHD problem don't see them wanting Matheson

I think you probably can get a first for Matheson but Caps aren't that team

Caps haaaaaaaaaaard pass. Not only do they not need any LHD (are set with Sandin-Fehervary-Alexeyev) but wouldn't even give up a 1st for Mathenson, let alone a 2nd and a good dman.

Much to the dismay of many of the other posters here, you're pretty well right on the mark (receiving teams might change though). Idk if we're going to be moving Matheson at the draft though, I could see maybe Harris + WPG 1st (and maybe some other tertiary pieces) for a pick upgrade.

Tampa declines rather easily. They aren't paying a 1st for a 4 years older than last time Savard, especially at a position they won't need that badly.
