Reclamation projects revisited

Created by: ImACashew10
Team: 2024-25 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 25, 2024
Published: Mar. 25, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
TRADES
Knight: Whether up in the NHL or down in the minors, Knight costing Florida too much to be Bob’s backup especially with their pending free agents. Sharks goalie coach had Knignt at USNTDP, worthwhile gamble given his pedigree.

Kakko: Similar player and career production compared to Zadina with Kakko having greater perceived upside offset by the late pick swap. Fresh start where he should be able to get more minutes.

UFAs
Dumba: Veteran leader who can eat minutes at RD where Sharks have very limited depth. West coast/weather should appeal.

Trenin: Skilled enough to hang with Celebrini and Smith while providing some grit/protection and flexibility to kick over to center.

Vrana: He produced once upon a time, might as well see if you can catch lightning in a bottle when you have more cap space than god.

I don't think either Florida or New York sell this low on their players.

While Knight makes a ton of sense for San Jose, he's still a valuable trade chip if Florida wants to move him. Addison isn't really needed in Florida and would be buried on their depth chart. You'd have to offer a significant young roster player for Knight - which San Jose doesn't have.

Rangers reportedly made Kakko available at the deadline but hesitated to even include him in Guenztel talks. I can't see them selling low on him for a guy like Zadina who's had his shot at redemption after being bought out by Detroit and he hasn't done much in San Jose.

Good trade targets. Probably not enough to land them. Knight would be perfect for the Sharks. Nice UFA signings. I've been considering Dumba, Zadorov, and Okposo.

Lol Zadina bought himself out to even have a chance to play, and even that hasn't worked out for him. At least Kakko is better procession player and solid defensively.
