Description
The pitchforks will probably come out for this post, but this website was created for people who should be nowhere near an NHL front office.

Ekman-Larsson was brought in to run the 2nd PP unit and takes the spot of Korchinski as he polishes up his game in Rockford. He becomes trade bait at the deadline.

Tanev was brought in to provide a stabile defensive minded veteran presence for whoever wins the 3rd LHD job (I think Del Mastro wins it in camp). Another trade piece at the deadline.

Toffoli to me is the perfect veteran winger to pair with Bedard and Hall while Nazar starts the year in Rockford. He stays until the deadline of 2025 unless the Hawks are competing for a wild card spot.

Blackwell and Johnson were brought back for continuity purposes, both fit in the bottom-6 and provide more than just a warm body.

Vlasic has earned a big contract, similar to that of Samuelsson in Buffalo. One of the up and coming top defensive dmen in the league.

Reichel was brought back on a prove-it deal to bridge to his 2nd non-ELC contract. Still has lots more to offer than to just give up on.

Raddysh and Phillips walk unless you can piece them together in a trade but Raddysh really hurt his value with this year's showing.

I wouldnt waste a contract slot on Gorman or Kelley. Maybe they get ATOs somewhere. But not NHL contracts

I do think Korch and Nazar should be in Rockford next year. I know some folks think Nazar can and should go back for a third year at Michigan but I’m curious if NCAA vs AHL is better for his growth.

Dont mind the signings. Appreciate you sticking to the plan of 1-2 year overpay contracts for veterans who can be flipped.

I think Kaiser has a leg up on EDM for a roster spot though. EDM and Allan will likely be injury call ups all season long just like Crev and Phillips were.

I wonder if Reichel would sign a Hagel deal, 3yr $1.5M. I’d guess not since he has to believe he’ll improve and if he does he’s screwing himself. But if he does improve depending on the state of affairs Hawks could also flip him like they did Hagel and get more future pieces.

Agree with Nazar in Rockford, don't agree or think KK will go back there. So for that reason I agree with the Toffoli and Tanev (or Demelo) singings but not OEL. On top of the fact that KK will be in Chicago I also think Kaiser and EDM will see NHL games, so probably no need to bring in a LD unless it's in a 7th D role

Yeah. I had high hopes for Kelley, but he does not look like someone you could even "work with" at the pro level. He is probably an ECHLer at best. Maybe he gets an AHL/ECHL contract from Rockford and gets sent to Indy. I never had hopes for Gorman, really. He was always just a "guy," imo. If KD lets both of them walk, I wouldn't even bat an eyelash.

I'd like to think Korchinski puts on some more weight, matures a bit, and comes back next season having taken another step. But, I don't think they play favorites with him, he will be waiver exempt and his junior club won't be able to claim him. So, if someone outplays him in camp, I don't think CHI will hesitate to send him down. And rightfully so, you don't get real development by playing favorites and not demanding excellence. But I certainly could be wrong, they may see something in him that they need to get out at the NHL level where they can be more hands on with his development. It all depends how they are looking at it. But, I wouldn't take it for granted if I were him.

KK, Kaiser, and EDM plus some sort of vet 7th D (Tinordi, Megna, or outside FA) will all battle for those last two LD spots. Vlasic, Jones, and Murphy are roster locks for obvious reasons, and I'd expect that they bring in another vet RD on a shorter contract. Allen needs another year I think so I wouldn't count on him yet

Agreed. As it should be.
