The Sabres don’t seem to be looking to move on from Skinner at all- BUT- if we decide to look to clear the Cap space, something like this would seem to be a completely reasonable deal imo

The Skinner hate has gone WAY too far
It’s reached absurd proportions really
He’s a MUCH more productive player than Smith- not even close really. And sure, the “Cap space”
Except we aren’t hurting for Cap Space- not at all

Sabres need to unload this contract, sooner rather than later. He is already on 3rd line, his production can be replaced by internal movement, and cap space can be used in FA/trade.

He’s our 2nd leading goal scorer & produces every year right at the top of our scoresheet
As long as he keeps doing that, he isn’t going anywhere, whether u want him to or not

And even with him, we have plenty of Cap Space

I agree, cap space shouldnt be an issue next season, obviously if there isnt any internal cap space. But then, with big extension for Peterka and Byram, Skinner's deal has to be dumped.

Not even then necessarily
We could move a smaller Cap hit out instead- say someone like Samuelsson- to make room
Or we could do bridge contracts instead of the 7x7 type deals we gave Tage & Cozens

Point is :
1- we don’t have to do anything at all with Skinner for next season
2- when it comes time that we do actually need Cap Space, we’ll have options other than dumping him or buying him out

Regardless, it’s all premature at this point
