Who are the best non-superstar leaders in the NHL

Description

Forgetting whether or not these players would play well together, or even the position, who are the best leaders in the NHL that are not considered superstars? For the sake of quantifying what makes a superstar, let’s call it a forward who is above a point per game threshold through a full season, or defenseman that is near a point per game threshold through a full season (say 70 points or more). Who do you want out there with the game on the line that fits this criteria? This is far from an exhaustive list, it’s just the ones I could think of right now.

That are not considered superstars eh? A few I can think of that are really good… Ryan Nugent Hopkins, Evander Kane, Alex DeBrincat, Nico Hischier, Roope Hintz… I could go on for a while haha… what about goalies? Stuart Skinner, Logan Thompson are two that come to mind… Karl Vejmelka is an underrated option too.

I guess the point of this discussion is to identify the players that generally fly under the radar, but seem to always get it done when you need it the most. And an argument can be made for Evander Kane, but I would think Nugent-Hopkins is only not a considered a superstar because he plays on a team with two other guys that are unquestioned superstars. Hintz is a good call.
