Going into next year

Created by: NucksnOilers

Description
- I think Hronek is probably asking for a 8.5 million dollar deal, I think the two groups meet in the middle at 7.5 but I wouldn't be shocked if it ends up being 8x8. He's staying no matter what regardless
- I think Joshua signs a 2 year deal at a nice cap hit for both sides in hopes to return an even bigger contract on the open market later
- The writing is on the wall for Mikheyev sadly, he's gone.

The price for Buch is a 1st + 2nd no?

Feels pretty close to that

No. The blues need defense prospects or young defenseman. If they are trading for picks they are going to want multiple firsts+. They are not actively shopping buch at the moment and will likely seek an extension in the offseason so it is going to take a big offer to pry him out of St. Louis. If the price was a 1st and 2nd he would have never made it past the deadline.

Vancouver isn't a good tradingpartner for trading Buch, as the Blues would probably ask for Willander as the main piece coming back, and Van consequently hanging up the phone.

Yeah that's a no for the blues. A 1st a year from now, Podklozin who has ok AHL numbers but nothing in the last 2 years in the NHL.

A pending UFA winger doesn’t get Willander. Guentzel who is better didn’t even return a guaranteed 1st or a prospect on that level

Guentzel is not better lmao

However look what Lindholm got! id expect something along those lines for buch who is a better all around player than lindholm and Guentzul

Buch is great but Guentzel is absolutely better

Lindholm is also a center which boosted his value. But if you’re expecting something similar to what he got then that wouldn’t be Willander, it would be very close to what the OP offered along with cap like Mikheyev going back. Maybe Raty or D Petey instead of Podkolzin

If the blues don’t get something back then I expect them to just keep him

Wood to Buffalo might make sense
Mikheyev’s Cap hit is about double Wood’s though,
so we’d pass on him quite easily

I feel like that's the price now rather than the deadline.

If they move him at the deadline it was going to be with retention, the blues are still in the playoff hunt and the team gets him for the playoffs. Even if my package isn't the best fit for the Blues (which it doesn't seem to be) the price is lower than it used to be.

I doubt they lower the price. If they don’t get what they want for him they can just keep him and extend him.

Yeah swapping the picks in the trade is pretty easy but I understand his contract is a little heavy for the Sabers. Another destination seems to make more sense from what I've read

The price will absolutely be lower now that he’s a rental rather than a team getting a full season and 2 playoff runs

I don't think it'll be about value in a Buch package more so fit. They would reject the package I proposed but don't be shocked if it's the same kind of package where it's a former 1st round defensive prospect instead of Podz
