Description
yes, yes...I know he is a former #1, but he has yet to live up to the hype. I would be willing to take the shot that a change may spark him. The Oilers are gonna need cap and can afford to lose him. So let's make a deal!

Edm can't afford him either unless NYR eat $2M... also in regards to RNH, he hasn't lived up to expectations yet. Is it worth $6M a year to find out if the change of scenery helps?

A first round pick plus anything is probably too much for Nuge. That high of a pick is basically becoming compensations for taking Staal, which is too high of a price to get rid of a body. Especially for Nuge to come in a play as your 3C

Probably not, I think it will just make me feel better to see Staal's name missing from the roster. Still, the guy is only 24 has elite talent (which hasn't translated yet of course)...and even with the disappointment is roughly 10 points off of Derek Stepan pace...and he was about to make 6.5! Of course, I would agree that neither player is worth the contract, but centers seem to make bills lately and I get to see Staal go!

Well the goal is to get Edmonton to say yes, so we have to entice somehow. I have to admit, I felt the 2018 pick was over the top when I clicked, it was probably snow in my eye from Staal's angels.

Nuge is a very good player and yes he will be a cap dump so all in all he won't be worth as much as he could get if he wasn't a cap dump I admit he isn't worth the 6 million but neither are a lot of players. Eberle isn't worth his 6 million. Marc staal isn't worth his 5.5 million. Rick Nash certisnly isn't worth his 7.8 million. What I'm getting at is RNH is a causality of what happens when you jump a contract extension to fast (blame it on old management) hall was the only one worth 6 million nuge is worth 4.5 million but he still is a very good hockey player and only 24 so in my opinion this trade isn't worth it for the oilers especially since our defence is already panned out staal would just be sitting. You want to get rid of staal? Send him to Arizona or even Montreal 2.5 million retained for a third or second

No one is taking Staal for anything resembling value. Unless it's someone else's bad contract or the NYR eat the 50% max AND get little back.

Fair enough, I just need a center and saw the possibility that RNH could be moved/purchased low. Montreal and Arizona don't have anyone they would send who fits the bill. I also need to move Staal in the deal because we wouldn't be able to afford RNH contract, unless you want to eat 3m? You guys have 18m in free cap space with only Leon to sign....this year...lol cmon, it'll be fine!

i agree on the points about the contracts, it was the same story for Stepan. at 4.5-5...he probably stays....6.5 w/NTC? Sorry.
