Somehow, I don’t think Tre pulls the trigger on that 😂

Girard shoots left and does not fit Tre’s preferred profile in terms of size. And we just sign RHD in FA & keep our 1st, no brainer

There's not many great RD in free agency this year. I looked while considering trading Manson to Buffalo. The list is pretty much Nikita Zadorov, Chris Tanev, and Ian Cole. They'll probably cost the same as Girard if not more. I get the size issue tho

Roy, Pesce, Walker, Carrier, DeMelo - you missed the main ones. I’m confident the Leafs can land one. Tanev another (hometown boy too) but Zadoriv & Cole - NTU

I may be wrong - haven’t done the research - but my sense is teams don’t trade picks or prospects in the summer until FA is over. Keep your assets and try to fill your needs via FA. After FA, in season or at TDL for sure, no other options

Girard fits so well in the Avs system. I’d be bummed.

If you could get everyone signed for that little I would be ok with trading Sammy but I think Mitts would want more as would Walker and some of the minimum cap players would want 100k more. In total I think you are about 2m short on contracts.

Girard is worth more than that, you just proposed a trade that nets you a significantly worse package for a top 4 dman signed long term than what you got for Newhook. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Yeah but someone has to go or we're really simping in some areas. I'd say one of Girard or Manson and rn it's Girard cause we have guys in the pipeline that have similar talent/trajectory

I’d say that both Sammy G and Manson are better players than Walker. Agree or disagree?
Sammy has dropped a little in his points production but he is one of our best pk guys and has a great transition game. That being said Walker might be able to replace him for a cap savings. But it’s not going to be significant.

I like your logic of keeping Manson over Sammy but my preference is to trade Colton as he is never going to get an opportunity to be a 2c or 2lw with the Avs. He could with another team. ATM 4m for a 3c is just a little too much for us.

Girard and Walker could both go for all I'm concerned. It's not that they aren't good but the Avs won't be able to afford Walker and Girard will probably give us the best return if we move him (better than the return above as well). They're both also replaceable (in theory) by guys we have in the system (Behrens and Sward on the left and Malinski on the right) and if we want a veteran points scoring D we could pick up Gustafsson pretty cheaply in UFA I'm sure (Landy could have a word with his childhood buddy I'm sure). Colton I like but again if necessary he could be moved and replaced more cheaply and so far I'm not that impressed with Mittlestadt though I guess we have to keep him unless Crosby somehow becomes available.

I've actually liked Mitts a lot outside of the last couple games, but yeah

Seems like a ghost at times. I wouldn't say as ghostly as RyJo though so that's something of an improvement I guess.
