With 1yr left on Tavares deal, don’t really see why Toronto would trade their 2C for free

offer them cap space to pass through Tavares dilemma and offer a chance to grab a decent replacement on the market

Yes, you could go and allocate than 11M elsewhere and fill holes, but is trading your captain the right message?

To be frank I think it is the best for them I've tried another AGM here and it's offer a pretty decent impact for free agents. This also give Habs a chance to slip him at TDL at half price.

If the Leafs have any success in the playoffs it's because of Tavares. He's not for sale, they trade Nylander before him.

They've extended Nylander and need cap space!

Then they move Marner, Tavares has come up the most of any Leaf in big moments. Make no sense to move on from him when players like Marner and Nylander are essentially doing the same things for the Leafs imo. They have no other option than Tavares to play as a 2C who can match up against other teams top lines, he's a mandatory piece for them to succeed in my mind

Win a cup? haha, that's funny. I saw this is the 8th year in a row they've made the playoffs. Habs have won more series in a single post-season appearance.

And I would assume that lead to a cup right? Especially with Carey Price on your roster?

The problem is getting waive Toronto is where he grew up. Do you remember when he signed with Toronto and his mom or wife posted picture of him from his childhood with his Toronto Mapel Leafs sheets. I could see him signing in Toronto at a discounted rate, especially if Toronto doesn't win a cup before his contract is up.

Probably going to sign a 2x7M or something like when his deal ends. Like Kopitar.

Crazy to think 7years have passed since he signed that deal with Toronto in FA.. feels like yesterday.
