Who on the habs did slaf beat out to "earn" that spot??? Gallagher and anderson who have both been horrible??? Nah he got that spot because he was the best available option the habs had not because he "earned" it.

So clearly you didn’t know anything about what happen throughout the season. Slafkowsky was playing with Dach at the start pf the season, then got move around the third and fourth line until after Christmas. He was put with Suzuki and Caufield earlier this year and was demoted because he wasn’t clicking. Then he started to generate a lot more on the third line and played with Monahan. He did earn is spot, that have nothing to do with the fact that Mtl didn’t have a player to fill this role. They didn’t have that player for the 2 season he was there and he didn’t start with Suzuki Caufield last season or this season because he wasn’t ready. Stop making excuses, Slafkowsky has shown that he belong there. I’m glad that Lafreniere finally found is game but don’t try to tell me that he is better than Slafkowsky because he isn’t. Number shown that both players have comparable number this season, but one played is 19 years old season and one is 21.

So what you're saying is a portion of Hab fans on this site are so stupid that they want to trade for a player just because he is French?

Not just Habs fans... tons of other fan bases trade their French players to MTL on here... just because they're French... it's a thing... and yes, it's annoying...

Okay, if that's the case, it's not but let's say it is. He's still out performing Laf while playing the same top line minutes. It's also funny because you would actually think it makes it harder for Slaf on a crap team because teams only have one line to focus their best defensive players against.

All in all, our player is younger, playing better and has a higher ceiling. Ranger add for all those reasons

Lets compare age relative seasons.
D+2
Laf 79 games played
19 even strength goals
10 even strength assists
29 points at ES in 12:46 per game

Slaf
78 Games
13 Even strength goals
21 even strength assists
33 es points in 14:49

Im sorry, Slaf is not out performing Laf in any way shape or form at age relative seasons.
You want to compare not age relative seasons, and just 2023-24, Laf is at 56 points, slaf is at 48 with Slaf getting 2:59 of PP per game. If Laf had pp time, he'd be a 80-90 point player...

So Slaf has more even strength points but isn't out performing him because of ice time, even though that ice time is on a way worse team, with worse players than Laf and that ice time being against top competition since they're the only line other team actually plan against.

So Slaf is playing better than Laf at a younger age, against harder competition and you still wanna say that Slaf isn't out performing Laf in their 20yr old seasons. I could get the argument of Slaf was doing this on lucky bounces or empty net points but he's doing it whole showing play making ability, hands in tight, for checking like a beast, making good shot choices and has brought up the play of his line mates.

Like I said before, both will be great players, Slaf is just projecting to be the better one.
