That won't get you Zegras

Also Marchessault's going to be 34 early in the next season, do you really want to be giving him a 5 year deal at 7M?

Certainly not getting Zegras & Fowler

A later 1st a 30 year old bottom 6er and a RHD that would isn’t any better than any of our current RHD isn’t even close

On a different note, Is there a chance Fowler could be traded this year? I could see one of the teams not on his NTC being Detroit for example (since he grew up there) and I think he would be an excellent fit for them, I would assume someone like Maatta would have to come back the other way. Anaheim probably doesn't want to be playing both Zellweger and Mintyukov on the 2nd and 3rd pair for the next 2 years and I imagine Fowler would want to chase a cup too

Cam is my favorite Duck so I would never say yes since I’ve loved him since his rookie year but I would see Pat possibly trying to based on how well Mintyukov Zellweger LaCombe and Vaakanainen all played in their spots on the left side this year

I have no clue what his value would be either but I don’t think we would want to take much in terms of bad contracts back — would have to look into what the buyout for Maatta is

Maatta only has 1 year left on his deal so I don't see a buyout being logical at all.

Due to his NTC I don't think you would get any sort of ransom for a Fowler trade. It would more be done to open up the roster spot for the young guys and complete the changing of the guard. I could see Detroit offering like a 2nd and a decent prospect (ie Redmond Savage, Dmitri Buchelnikov, or Shai Buium)

Why would Detroit do that? We don't have the cap for him and we already have 5 LHD. We would have to send out both Chiarot and Maatta to fit him in. Also, with the emergence of Edvinsson, Fowler would end up being third pair. I know he can play on his off side a bit but it just doesn't seem worth it with how many RHD that are free agents this year.

Old fashioned thinking. Just because a player holds their stick left doesn't mean they have to play the left side. Detroit's current biggest issue is they have 3 defensemen that should not be playing more than #6 minutes and another 2 that should be #5's. And due to various reasons like cap hits, term, and clauses they can't exactly move them easily. They severely lack legitimate top 4 defensemen outside of Walman (decent #2/3) and Seider (legitimate #1). Adding Fowler would give you a much more balanced top 4. Fowler is also better than all the RD on the market this summer with the exception of Pesce and Montour, and you would be moving out a contract in this trade too. Personally I would move Walman over the the right side if you want Edvinsson playing in the top 4, otherwise keep Chiarot there I guess

Pass on Fowler, left side is full as is. I wouldn’t give up Sissons, he’s got too much value for us.

Adding him is not the worst idea but rather just save the assets. Suitable and in some cases younger options on the market with Roy, Pesce, Montour, Tanev, Carrier, Demelo, Walker, Dumba plus more. Maybe if we strike out on any good options then we could circle back to Fowler but for right now it doesn't make sense to be spending assets yet, especially a couple you listed.

Well assuming Ghost is walking you need more offense from the blue line than just Seider. Of those names you mentioned only Walker and Montour really provide anything in terms of offense. Montour will cost 7M+ on the market, I'm less certain on Walker but probably similar to what you are paying Ghost now. If you are looking for a free asset on the market my suggestion would be Skjei but he will cost north of 6M too. I look at Fowler as a relatively cheap addition that can put up 40-50 points and moves you off an unwanted contract. It's all hypothetical though. I think he's a good fit for he Wings

laugh That offer isn't even close for both Cam Fowler and Trevor Zegras, Cam Fowler has a 4 team trade list. And the odds of Nashville being one of those 4 teams is likely 0%

If he scores 30-40 goals for each of the next 3 seasons it will be fine

Nashville doesn't have the star power upfront to make that happen

if you get Zegras and put them with Forsberg Nashville will, if I am Nashville I am trying every way possible to get Zegras as they don't have anyone at his level of offensive prowess playing centre

The problem is they really don't have the assets to get Nashville without spending like 4 1sts worth of assets

even in the draft Nashville never takes offensive players like Zegras
they draft defenseman and goalies well
