Trade For Dumoulin and Clean Up The Free Agent Market

Description
I like the Bruins NHL-ready prospect crop and I think that they do too. I would be shocked if they actually made these signings instead of just giving the kids a chance. With that said, trading Spooner has always been a strong possibility and the Bruins' biggest need is a two-way lefty dman to pair with McAvoy. Dumoulin and the Pens are far apart in their arbitration numbers and Pittsburgh has made it known that they need a third line center. It seems like a good fit.

If Spooner is dealt, it opens up a world of possibilities for the Bruins forward core. I like JFK a lot, but it's a tall task for a player to jump right into a top-nine role in their first pro season. Thus, moving Backes to center and having JFK, a skilled two-way player, center the fourth line instead would give the Bs perhaps the best depth down the middle in the NHL. However, moving Backes off the wing would make the NHL depth on both wings even more questionable. Therefore, re-signing Stafford and signing Vanek, both of whom remain available without much negotiating leverage, would add some top six talent into the mix. I have no doubt that both guys still have gas in the tank. I feel the same way about Beleskey, so that's three veteran top nine wingers to find chemistry with Krejci and Backes. Then, there's Vatrano, Bjork, Agostino, Cehlarik, DeBrusk, and Heinen to compete on the left side. That's more than enough competition and depth on the left side. The same can't be said on the right, where only Senyshyn is a natural righty fighting for a spot. Scooping up Alex Chiasson on a two-way deal would be great value and yet another solid veteran to compete for a job. All of the critics of Boston's forward depth would have to accept that this is an unbelievable group that should be able to find chemistry somehow and be able to combat a number of injuries without performance falling off.

P-Bruins should sign Henley and Ebert to minor league deals to round out the roster. They both have good two-way ability.

The thing about bruce cassidy is, i dont think he cares as much about having natural righty's on the right side and natural lefty's on the left side. Heinen and Bjork have both played RW in the past and both are capable of playing RW. Cassidy even mentioned a scenario where he talked about Heinen playing with Marchand and Bergeron. Senyshyn will have some competition.

Also, your cutting it way too close to the cap. Try and trade McQuaid or just buy him out. Dont need almost 3 mill being scratched

No enough for Dumo. If you really want him, give us Spooner plus Carlo and the deal is done.

It depends smile You're not getting him signed 3*3 like it's posted here. I don't think you will sign him 4*4 if you like rough numbers. So it is at least a 1st and a 3rd rounders. The problem is that PIT want Dumo for a year at low caphit so anything else is just a useless talk aside you really like Dumo and want to overpay adding a defenceman rolling eyes imo

That's the problem with trades. Everybody thinks their guy is worth more than he is. That plus Cassidy/Sweeney want to plug the kids into open spots.

    Marchy-Bergy-Heinen
    Vatrano-Krejci-Pasta
    DeBrusk-Spoons-Backes
    Schaller-Nash-Acciari

    Chara-Carlo
    Miller-McAvoy
    Krug-McQuaid

    Rask
    Dobby

Not a bad effort at a mock, but I just don't see it happening.

Am I missing something on Dumoulin? People are asking for a Spooner + Carlo? are you out of your mind, Carlo arguably is better than Dumoulin already.

Spooner played 17mins of PK in 78 gms, and 38% face off %. I don't give a crap about his points. PIT needs a 3C who can PK, gives up his body to win games, and wins faceoffs. That's not Spooner.

As far apart everyone says or thinks they are, Dumoulin contract will get done and if they trade someone to make room, it won't be 1 of 6 defensemen who will play close to 20 mins a gm and PK, over a winger, where the Pens are deep. There are MANY teams out there with better 3C with actual 3rd line skill sets, that won't require PIT gut the D.

No more than $3M. I'm hoping for $2.5M
