People seem to forget that we’re in a rebuild, no need to take on extra money. Skinner is on a stupid contract. No need to take on his extra money for 2 years.

You’re not wrong, and people who propose Jeff Skinner trades seem to continually forget he has a full no movement clause. Not only does he probably not want to leave Buffalo, he has no reason to want to go to Montreal. But if Montreal were to trade for him, it would be removing one thorn out of their sides, because Skinner is always burning Montreal every time he plays against them. I know that doesn’t mean much, and this is kind of stupid in the first place, but for the purpose of adding something interesting to an otherwise stupid post.

My only issue with it is we’re adding $3.5 million for those last two years, when we should be using that $3.5 million on a younger player who could contribute just as much, if not more than skinner. Just doesn’t make sense to trade for him in my opinion

I rather the $3.5 million in cap space and either re sign or sign someone that’s essential to the rebuild. And if it came down to us being desperate to freeing up cap, then we pay to dump Anderson. But skinnier doesn’t fit the Habs timeline and adding the extra money doesn’t make much sense.
