There really isn't anything on LAK that is a movable piece that would be of any interest for Mercer. That isn't even remotely a start to a trade for NJD.

PLD may just be the worse contract in the league. At least Norris has an excuse being injured but PLD just doesn’t look engaged.

Would rather roll the dice on the younger and cheaper player with less term hopefully staying healthy than the disinterested player suddenly caring again.

Plus with Norris you could always choose to move him later. PLD has a NMC kicking in next season for 4 years.

Dubois is a better player than Norris without the injuries.

Norris is a year younger and put up career highs of 35G 55P in 66Gp during hid D+5 season. PLD's D+5 season was 5 games of looking like the worst player in the league in Columbus before forcing a trade to WInnipeg and finishing with 9G 21P in 46Gp.

I think everyone can agree that last season was PLD's best, putting up 27G 63P in 73Gp. This put him on pace for a 30G 70P season over 82 games. Norris career year had him on a 43G 68P pace over a full 82Gp. PLD has never had a single season with a better scoring rater than that one season of Norris, hasnt ever sniffed his 35 irl goals, let alone his hypothetical 43 goal pace with 28 being his best.

Production-wise I would tend to favor the player generating significantly more goals and only slightly less points. Norris has played on some bad teams in Ottawa while PLD had the benefit of putting his best year up on a very deep and very talented Jets team that made the playoffs as well. Fun fact he's also never played a year of his career on a team that finished less than 7 games above .500 so he's really had the benefit of better teams and better teammates over Norris.

Obviously these stats are very specific but thats just because Norris is always injured. Don't even know why he forced coming back last year no surgery just to get hurt again and do the surgery anyway, especially when it meant he was coming back no where near 100% again this year. Saying that the injury history affects his value to where theyre similar is one thing. But without the injuries the one year Norris had semi healthy clears anything Dubois has put together in his career. If they both came with a clean bill of health I wouldnt hesitate to take Norris. At some point we have to stop giving PLD credit for being taken 3oa, it was EIGHT years ago and without that draft prestige I dont think we look at him the same way.
