Devils aren't trading all that for a goalie whos next contract is gonna be 8x8 during his 30-38 years

It is what Trotz' wants and i think it is too much. Casey and a 1st should be the high end of what we get in my opinion unless there is a bidding war for Saros. Even then Mercer being included would be all sorts of overpay.

Stamkos isnt going anywhere.

Too much per year on March but right contract length.

Yeah Mercer would only be on the market for Swayman. As good as Saros has been, the goalie aging curve is not kind to goalies into their mid 30s

Agreed. Swayman's size would also help too. Even though saros has excelled over the years at 5'11" people still worry about his size and as he ages and loses speed that actually might begin to become more of an issue. 3 years younger and 6'2" Swayman would probably get a bigger haul but i doubt Boston would ever consider trading him.

Which is why I expect NJD to simply pay a standard 2025 1st+sweetener package for Ullmark.

The hope with swayman comes from the history of guys who go through the arbitration process. They rarely stay long term if they don't have a long term contract done that offseason. (80% are gone within 2 years)

One of the rare exceptions comes from Nashville in Weber, but he signed an offer sheet with another team, so I wouldn't exactly count him as "staying"

Ullmark just depends on his NTC. 15 team no trade list. Markstrom kindof the same deal. Not sure where these goalies are willing to move to or where the GMs are willing to move the goalies to.

Imo if the goalie market is ridiculous, fitzgerald should go after other assets to build a complete team. I hope he doesn't let fan pressure get to him and overpay for a goalie.

In general I'd rather build via an elite Dcore.

Give me
Siegs-Hamilton
Luke-Nemec
QUALITY-Marino

If we can get 1 more top 4 quality dman i'd be very happy.

In the ideal scenario with Hamilton coming back strong, marino and siegs playing like they did in 22-23, and developments from Luke and Nemec, we could have a top 3 dcore in the NHL.
