NSH could just re-sign Zucker at a cheaper cap hit for a similar role/production

Pittsburgh should probably not be targeting much in the UFA market

Why do you say that? I would ideally target younger players, but I still think we could be solid next year with the right additions.

I'm not saying to ignore the FA market entirely. Most FA's will be looking for long and lucrative deals. Pittsburgh should be targeting guys looking for like redemption contracts, someone they can put on Crosby's wing and hopefully gain some trade value from. I wouldn't hand anyone more than 1-2 years of term max

I would definitely expect more term than 4 years for Stephenson, but wouldn’t expect him costing more than $5.5ish million aav.

If you think about most UFA contracts, how many that are signed would you feel comfortable with? Teams always overpay to get their guy. Also think about Pittsburgh's situation, be where they are a fringe playoff team and not looking like they are going to stay competitive for long. Players might be more inclined with teams that are trending up rather than down.

You have to resign MP DOC and Crosby next year. ALL 3 deserve raises.
Gonna put MP at 5.5 or so
DOC if he keeps it up around 4.
Crosby who knows, he should probably get 10 but you never know if he takes a discount.

Where you getting the cap from signing these long term deals?
On top of it, you left the 3rd pairing a disaster. We just can't do that and expect to win.
