NYR says no to expensive bottom 6 Fw. They have a lot of inexpensive alternatives in the system for next year. They don't even take him if you pay us to take him.

Do you really see Klim Kostin us that much? (sorry, wanted to make the terrible pun, don't mind me).

I'm also not a fan of the Bordeleau trade. Bordeleau's seemed decent at the NHL level and it's probably fairly unlikely that whoever we get with the likely late 2nd from the Bruins will be better than him. Bordeleau is still only 22 so he definitely fits our timeline so swapping him for a pick who is likely at best comparable to him who is unlikely to be NHL ready until around 2028 doesn't make much sense to me.

Why would Blackwood be worth anything at all to anyone? Why would someone pay to take a low upside risk on him rather than just taking that same risk on an underperforming goalie in free agency for free?

If we don't make Kostin a qualifying offer, another team might Klim him. Ok yours was punnier.

My thinking on Bords is that the Sharks have too many small forwards. I can't see them keeping both Bords and Gush. I like Gush better and Bords probably has the higher trade value at this point. He's worth a 2nd max. Would you trade Gush instead? Keep both?

Blackwood played well this year. His stats are more a reflection of the team in front of him. He's an NHL starting goaltender, even on better teams.

Then why wasn't he that in New Jersey, a better team? Been there, done that, didn't have the result you want to claim he will have.

Depending on the other moves the Caps make in the offseason, I wouldn't particularly mind this. Would have to rely on the Caps moving one of McMichael, Lapierre, or Bordeleau to the wing though.
