I haven't looked at Chabot's analytics, but adding another $8m D man will be tough with paying Hamilton already and soon Luke and Nemec.

When healthy he's a very good offensive defenseman, but defensively he is quite mediocre. If you can pair him with a lock down RD he'd be great but a bit overpaid.

In the 2022 offseason, Pierre Dorion kind of "missed the boat" when he went after DeBrincat instead of Marino.

While DeBrincat was traded for the #7 overall pick + a 2nd + a 3rd, Marino was traded for only Ty Smith + a 3rd.

The problem here is...Marino is our lockdown RHD. We don't need more offense from the D with a health Hamilton, Luke, and Nemec.

Exactly what I was thinking. You'd want to pair Chabot with Marino so it just doesn't work.

I like the value for NJD. Only problem is the cap charge.

Things are going to get fairly tight with Nemec, Mercer, Luke, Holtz needing raises in next couple of years. And that $3.6m will be needed.
