It'd have to be a draft floor trade but NJ would be all over that if there's nobody they really like left when their pick comes up. But Flames ownership probably wouldn't approve the retention.

If NJ moves the '24 first its going to be for an elite goalie in their prime or somebody whos about to be there. They aren't moving it for old man Markstrom even with the late first coming back. The value of a potential star player far exceeds that of a regressing Markstrom and a potential middle 6 guy with the +/-30OA pick. The '25 pick could be on the table but that Vancouver pick makes it too much for just the '25..

I don't think NJD does it for Markstrom alone, even at $3m.
