If Nelson signs a team friendly extension, then Buffalo might consider that deal. You’re not getting anything close to that until there’s a new contract in place.

The penguins might have interest in Nelson. But they too wouldn't ever pay something that crazy.

Last I saw the NYI plan was to buy out Lee.
Either way they got to make cap space next year somehow.
NYI don't really have any leverage and no one is paying for aging rentals.
