He’s worth at least as much as Newhook and Newhook went for a 1st and a 2nd.

Check Farabee’s even strength numbers. Only like 6 points on the power play. Played only like 30 seconds on the 2nd unit. He has close to the same numbers as Suzuki. He could explode with us in an offensive system vs Torts defensive heavy system.

looks good, maybe not the contract.

i think id rather keep that haul, keep slowly developing our own prospects.

Late 1sts and 2nds have very low odds of becoming top 6 or top 4 players. You most likely get another Mesar or a Beck. Not bad, but you’ll have to wait 3 years for them to see the nhl and 5 before they have a real impact in your middle to bottom 6, if they don’t bust all together. I’d rather go get a young guy who is already that with the potential to be more.

I really like this trade; better thought than most around here wink The Newhook comparable is a good one. I am just not sure why the Flyers would move one from a 24 yo with this kind of upside; the case was much clearer for the Avs.

I think it’s just time for a change for Farabee. I think he would want that. He played the last 10 games on the 4th line in Torts dog house. He’s not a fit in his system that relies on dump and chase, high energy and relentless puck pursuits on the forecheck. He’ll be a much better fit in our system which is more about gaining the zone wirh possession and keeping possession.

I’m also not saying the upside is star player, but he is a top 6 lock. The perfect high end 2nd liner. That is a piece we’re looking for. He also has connections through Hughes having played in the Boston collegiate systems. It’s a no-brainer buy low option for us.
