Whoa...why not just extend Sharangovich?
He probably gets similar contract to Necas and you'd get to keep Coronato and pick

On NJD deal...add a little retention to Markstrom and I think its still plausible

EDIT: just realized you signed Necas for $8.5m. Oh, boy.

During the exit interviews it sounded like Sharangovich wasn't interested in sticking around. Hurts to lose Coronato, but you've gotta give up quality to get quality.

Calgary has no reason to do any of this. Necas would be a nice pickup but not at that cost. Sharky alone is worth almost as much and he has proven good chemistry with multiple players in Calgary. KK isn't worth his contract.

Kk has the potential to be the next Sharky, and if not he's dirt cheap to buy out. Sharky made it sound like he doesn't want to stick around so we might as well move him now. He's not near as valuable as Necas as he is a UFA after next season.

Necas at $8.5m seems high. Contract comps I had used in recent post were…

Kempe: $5.5m x 4 years
Konecny: $5.5m x 6 years
Compher: $5.1m x 5 years
D Strome: $5.0m x 5 years
Barbashev: $5.0m x 5 years
Batherson: $4.95m x 6 years
Zacha: $4.75m x 5 years

Sorry to hear on Sharangovich.

Personally I think Zary should be the next 1C. Can put a vet next to him to handle some if defensive responsibilities, faceoffs, etc.

KK is an overpaid bottom 6 player with 6 years left on his contract. 6 years is not dirt cheap to buy out. Sharky as he said just doesn't know, he hasn't been in Calgary very long and extension talks haven't even started with him yet. It's good that he was honest instead of copping out with the standard BS answer "I love it here and I want to stay" most players give to those questions... Toffoli for example everywhere he goes it's "I love it here, my wife loves it here and we want to stay here" but when he doesn't immediately get offered a big raise with plenty of term as a 32 year old pending UFA he suddenly wants a trade.

Necas is an arbitration eligible RFA who can just sign his QO and be UFA a year or two from now too. He's only 6 months younger than Sharky so age isn't a factor. Production is similar this year with Sharky actually being ahead a little bit with 7 goals and 6 points more in 5 more games played (Necas missed 5 games this year, Sharky played all 82).

KK has a buyout that's only $800k per yer... that's not bad

He said we’ll see in a very normal tone. Doesn’t mean he’ll leave

Very hefty for Necas considering Sharang scored more points with similar ice time

KK would be a cap dump at this point

Don’t mind most of your signings (other than Necas, Dillon and Kylington who is still a big risk and didn’t have a good enough return to justify a raise, he should be at $1.25mil/yr, like Miromanov imo)

Rather pursue the Younger Ryan Graves if PIT wants to dump him and we go LD shopping

Don’t like any of those Trades, especially the CAR Trade. KK sucks
