Interactive Sabres

Created by: JLance

Initial Creation Date: Apr. 25, 2024

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Hate the trade? Hate the player? Offer needs balance? Let's build something that works for everyone.

-Bryson goes unqualified, re-signed as UFA to be 7D.
-Signings and trades are made to provide long term cap flexibility, fill in and stabilize organizational gaps and to provide a competitive edge for a team often described as soft.
-Quinn and Peterka will need new contracts in 24-25 which is likely to eat up at least 9M. Acquiring Kane and Iafallo allows the Sabres to reassess in one year.
-Sens fans I'm sure will hate this. What is Boucher actually worth? The Sabres would certainly like a prospect of his mold but I'm not sure he's worth overpaying for.
-The one year options on forward allow the Sabres to lift up prospects throughout the season without pressure. The expectation is one (or more) of Kulich, Rosen, Savoie and Ostlund will be full time ready by 25-26.

Thanks in advance for not being a douche.

The idea behind Winnipeg moving Iafallo would be for them to gain cap space, not make their cap situation far worse.

It would most likely need to be for pure futures.

I noticed they have about 14M next near to augment their roster. They'd be swapping out a defensive -able player for one who provides much more offense for an extra 2. something. I understand what you're saying and wouldn't be opposed to offering something small in addition.

The problem with Boucher is exactly what you said, what is his value? Much like Norris I think the injury history and fact theyve consistently been out of the lineup the last 4 years makes it difficult to move them for what theyre likely worth. Also much like the Norris situation because of the depreciated value Ottawa would likely be best served by keeping the player and hoping they can get healthy.

If he was to be moved I think that Joki is a serviceable right shot D which is something the team is looking for. Curious to see what other Sens fans say, I dont hate it but I would prefer to keep Boucher.

Skinner just does nothing for Winnipeg. He's a left shot winger, going on 32, has 3 more years on a bad contract, even with the retention and isn't replacing anyone in the Jets' current top 6. It will cost Buffalo an asset or two to move Skinner.

Winnipeg's only interest in moving Iafallo is for cap space, which is why it needs to be for futures.

Thanks for the response and insight. I see Joker not as a garbage dump, but as an extra player the Sabres shouldn't be paying his worth. He's now a luxury item that can be played on lines 2 and 3 (1 in a tight pinch) but the value in him now is the trade return. There's plenty of teams looking for team controllable RHD's so there's probably many options here.

Thanks for the insight. I know it won't be easy to move him, and I believe Buffalo will become desperate as soon as 25-26. B/O certainly on the table.

Skinner has a full no trade clause so unless a buyout he is going nowhere.

NMCs/NTCs are traded occasionally. I don't believe this to be a sound argument.

Serviceable wasnt meant to be a slight!! He'd easily be the second best RD on the team and carries value 100%, most definitely not a cap dump and Ottawa should be interested

Skinner would not waive to go to the Peg and I dont think the Jets would be interested in skinner or his cap hit.
