You don't have to sign trade for long term non value long contracts ts. Tanev, Walker, DeMelo...three Ontario boys might be available and others as in UFA. The reason the Leafs have so many fifth and six Dmen is beause the Dubas traded away so many premium draft picks for one playoff round win. You continued the tradition.

Walker and DeMelo aren't big enough. Tanev is older than both Pulock and Parayko. They're fine back up options but the Leafs should construct a defense like Vegas, with everyone either than Rielly being over 6"3.

The reason why the Leafs have 6th and 7th defencemen is because they're wasting 22 million on JT and Marner, not because they've traded away late round picks.
