It's an interesting dump swap, but CHI probably says no simply because the extra year might be important if their core players all need money quick.

Seth Jones is better, younger, cheaper, and plays a much more valuable position

Hawks pass. As bad as everyone on this site insists Jones is, he is by far the Hawks best option for RD 1.

Hawks have a reclamation project to play w/ Bedard. His name is Taylor Hall. For the exact reasons @dgibb10 stated, Hawks obviously decline.

Seth Jones is a legit top pairing RD. on a 6 year term as a UFA I'd probably offer him 8.5 mill, so his value is probably about -6 mill total

Huberdeau is an aging winger who can barely crack 50 points despite PP1 time and favourable usage. If he was a UFA on the 7 year term he has left I'd probably offer him 5 mill AAV. So his value is -38.5 mill.
