Fortunately Marner doesn't waive for Winnipeg and he doesn't hold that much value.

I get it is the new cool thing to hate on Marner but he's a perennial 90-100 pt guy who is on for more goals for then goals against while playing in the playoffs. He plays both the PK and pp. The Leafs need a change that is why Leaf fans are trying to trade him but his value isn't for a piece of gum and a toothpick. He is a top 5 winger in this league who rarely misses time and plays 20+ mins a night vs the opposing teams top players

He is a good complimentary winger, but with the bloated contract called for here, he isn't pulling a team's 1D and a young top 6 forward.

So you would rather be stuck in no mans land then add a 100 pt scorer who plays on both the PK and PP who can easily drive a line for a defenceman who hasn't done anything with his team and a young forward who couldn't crack the lineup in a big game?

Yup, because then you still have cap space to fill holes rather than spending it all on a complimentary winger that isn't a play driver and isn't effective when it matters.

I mean just look at all the winning the Leafs have done with Marner.

Toronto has 4 guys making 10+ million. But if you think for one second Marner is a complimentary winger you have seriously lost the plot. Also how is the scoring going for you guys? 5 goals in the past 3 games? Maybe you do need a guy who can actually help your offence. Imagine Marner sending dimes to Connor. I can guarantee Marner would get him to 50 goals

I guess a lot better than Toronto's? 12 goals for the Jets to 7 for Toronto. Where's all this offense that Marner provides? I'm not seeing it.

In the past 3 games you have 5 goals. Toronto isn't scoring much either but scored 6 goals in the past 3 games. Isn't that just a hoot?

Hence a shakeup. Winnipeg gets their superstar. Toronto gets their number 1 d and a young forward who might grow into a solid top 6 guy

Yeah, the Jets will pass. 1D is a harder position to fill than a good but expensive regular season winger.
