Hawks are not taking Kampf without a significant draft pick coming back. Don't want him, don't need him.

Chicago doesn't want him for free. They let him walk for nothing. Toronto can either pay Chicago to take him or Toronto can find somewhere else to send him.

For the same reason you are trying to dump Kampf, Chicago will not take him for free… he is not worth the contract the Leafs signed him to. Three more season at $2.4m per requires a 2nd pick as incentive for ANYONE to take him.

Also, Guentzel, Tanev and Walker are not signing for that little. Domi may take your offer because of his attachment to the Leafs but it will probably require more. Kane will probably get a multi year offer for that price or more.

Tavares and Marner are not waiving their NMCs.

Consider something. You need to make the playoffs... and you have a 10M anchor in Huberdeau. Mitch will get Huberdeau to 75-80 pts/year just by walking into the room which helps the team. Plus his own 80-90 pts.

He's getting a lot of flak, but he is a GREAT player.

Keep your "GREAT player" Calgary doesn't want him. Huberdeau needs players who go to the tough parts of the ice for him to pass the puck to not a soft perimeter passer. A big physical center to provide net front presence and a speedy winger who can stretch the defense are what worked with Huberdeau in Florida.

Calgary isn't likely to make the playoffs next year unless they somehow manage to pick up that physical net front presence top 6 center, a top 4 defenseman or two and maybe a top 6 sniper with speed. Getting all that this summer is very highly unlikely even without wasting valuable cap space on Marner.
