I sincerely doubt Rosen and Blais come back

Signing Scandella to that means that DA is senile and should be removed

I don’t see a team giving up a first for Leddy even at 50%
I also don’t see NYR making that trade for Buch!, that’s a lot of assets for one year of a guy. I also don’t like taking on Goodrow but that’s a nitpick

Rangers decline, if we did not offer this package for Guentzel we wont do it for Buch.

I love Buch, but he is not worth this massive overpay

That Ranger trade is delusional and Drury obviously would just hang up on you. Figures it's from a Leafs fan. Maybe you can send Marner to Edmonton for McDavid, Draisital and Hyman, all with 50% retention.

Not a prayer COL does that. They are going to look to move cap out not bring in a $2M 3rd pairing dman for a 1st. Besides they have Malinski, Behrens and finding another dman like Johnson if they need for a $1M is the course.

I think it’s safe to state that Nick Leddy is not a 3rd pair defenseman by hardly any teams standards.

I do however understand that the Avs have Toews and Girard who would most likely play up in the lineup above Leddy.

It depends on if you want the cap savings and are ok having someone you don’t really trust on the 3rd pairing or if you want a full top 6 that’s reliable in pretty much all situations.

I’m not advocating this trade for the Avalanche, I think it’s an overpay and a dumb spot to overpay for. I think we are on the same page here, just wanted to comment about Leddy being a well above serviceable defenseman since him being here in STL. He’s probably a pretty good #4 on most teams in the NHL

Like you, we do not want to lock Buch up to an overpaid retirement deal. It certainly wouldn't be for anything near this lol.

Can’t see Blais and Scandella coming back. Scandy made it seem like he was either leaving or retiring with his comments before game 82 vs Dallas. Wouldn’t mind the Buch trade but I don’t want Goodrow. No chance Avs trade with us. Non Blues fans always think STL should tear it down, that’s not in the team’s or Armstrong’s DNA. if they won 3 more games they would’ve knocked Vegas out.

They have Makar, Toews, Girard and Manson who are all far far better than him. If Leddy is playing in your top 4 your defense just isn’t good, I wouldn’t use the well he played well here as an indicator. He has generally been a poor 5v5 shot metric and xGD guy. But even none of that matters to COL, he just makes to much money even 50% retained and he isn’t worth a 1st even 50% retained. I mean kudos for being creative but this is a trade that only really benefits STL.

There’s virtually no scenario given the usage Leddy and Parayko have had over the last two years where they look good by any metrics. None of the Blues defensemen will look good by shot metric numbers. Those numbers are heavily dependent on teammate quality and team philosophy. The Blues team philosophy was to give teams outside shots, our goalies were great yes, but it was by design their numbers looked so good as well. There was an open shooting opportunity almost at all times opposing teams were on the ice if they stayed to the perimeter.

This is a guy who has been tasked with Parayko to play 22-25 minutes of shutdown defense in a matchup role. There are no other players in the NHL asked to do that.
