I don't think this makes the team any better, Sprong is solid but I don't think they want anything over 2 years at this point unless it's a bonafide top line forward. I think there's a legitimate chance Kane comes back.

Take out the 5th going back to the Nucks & Hawks probably play ball. No thanks on the Sens trade. Absolutely not to re-signing Tinordi. I don’t hate the Sprong signing but think they could do better. Unlike my fellow Hawk fans I do not believe they bring in any free agent D-men. Davidson will leave room for the kids to play, yes even RD where there isn’t very much in the pipeline.

Sprong, Chatfield and Mikheyev make the Hawks better. Thomson, Forsberg and Tinordi DO NOT! Easy pass on those three. Plug in Kaiser or DelMastro as 3 LD. Add a vet 7th D.

OTT missed the window on Thomson having trade value. Mikheyev doesn't necessarily make the hawks better, but I could see him having some success with a change of scenery. I like Sprong, but I doubt Kyle Davidson would be interested in him after his pre-season assault debacle. Regardless of the details and whether he was at fault, controversy is something CHI is trying to steer clear of. Then again, from what I remember, Donato and Sprong played great together in Seattle and I'd be very interested to see if they can re-kindle that chemistry.

I think they need the guys that they already have to take steps, not to insert more guys. What they really need is scoring up front. If they can score more, the confidence will spread to the rest of the roster, and they will win more games. Because a large portion of the games that they lose are pretty close, if they can keep one more goal out of their net and score one more than before on average, they will be in good shape. Playing as a team and having confidence will go a long way too. The gap in talent between bottom feeders and a bubble playoff teams isn't as wide as at is in other sports.

I sort of agree with @YeahRighttt on bringing in D. But I do still think bringing in someone else to play with Korch could be beneficial, but if it isn't "the right guy", it isn't even worth doing. Not sure Chatfield is the right guy, but it's possible. Murphy just doesn't seem to have the offense to support Korch properly. Murphy is a shutdown Dman, and it is too late in his career to try and mold him into something else.
