Maple Leafs don't have much leverage in a Marner trade considering they're giving Marner the boot. Solid goalie and a top-six forward is a fine return. Plus, the Leafs have impossible Cap gymnastics to make Marner's contract work next season.

It's not a fine return though. An aging goalie and a player that's shown decline isn't getting a top RW in the league. Calgary would likely have to add their 2024 1st to even get Toronto to talk to them

I'd do that deal in a heartbeat for CGY. I think Marner holds significantly more value than a mid 1st + 3rd.

Add Dillon Dubé in the trade and give him a shot with the Leafs

Hehe, I mentioned it in another thread but I could see a deal around Buchnevich and Krug. Maybe Tuch, and Byram from BUF.

I think that teams that barely missed the playoffs/WC would be better partners for a Marner trade. STL, BUF, NYI, NSH, PHI, NJD... maybe WSH, PIT, SEA and MIN.

Calgary would only want Marner to flip him for futures. We'll give you Markstrom and/or Mange but find a 3rd team that he would actually willingly waive too and Flames will take the futures but retain 50% on Marner
