Hawks pass. They aren't giving up valuable assets for 1 year of Marner that may exceed what they can get in return at the TDL with 50% retained for Marner through another team.

It would be based on Marner signing a new contract with the Hawks.

A) That depends on for how much
B) If it's market value, than they will likely get better offers from other teams to the tune of (2) 1sts plus a very good prospect plus a role player that fills a need. This offer wouldn't match that
C) Marner plays RW only, not LW
D) Good chance the Hawks take Demidov in the draft, which negates the reason to get Marner long term especially if there is intent on bringing Kane back

Marner will be 28 at the end of next season. Acquiring an almost 30 year old with a $12M x 8 year extension doesn't sound like a Kyle Davidson move to me at this point in the rebuild. I doubt they have enough interest to pay valuable assets for him. If he wants to come to CHI he can do it in free agency. But, like @ChiHawk said, Demidov is essentially a no brainer at 2nd overall and negates the purpose of even considering buying Marner. KD has preached over and over again that he is building for long term success, Marner would be short term success and then likely severe cap issues in the back half of his contract.

Sorry, but this really makes no sense. Kane and Marner play the same position, which also happens to he the position Demidov plays. RW. Signing Kanw to play with Bedsy until Demidov comes over. That's perfectly logical! Trading away all those assets for Marner as well? Makes no sense. If you are going to trade for Marner, you don't sign Kane and you maybe don't draft Demidov either.
