The marner trade is not happening, but I kind of like this idea.
Leave out the 1st round pick, retain at least 33% for Marner and the Kings might think to work out something

Calgary declines. If that's all they get offered for Markstrom they'll just keep him for now.

So Marner gets to decide where he is traded the team trading for him knows this and he is a pending UFA and you think they are giving up a very good center, a 1st round pick, and a young winger. Yeah that’s not happening.
