Description
Man that Kokaniemi contract is rough.

San Jose I believe you and Carolina will become best buddies this offseason.

Kuznetsov experiment did not work out so I think he'll be flipped to whoever can give him the most icetime for his next contract. Same goes for Orlov.

Decided to get crazy cause why not. San Jose will quite literally have to make an effort to reach the cap floor the next 4-5 seasons. Ik this is a high risk medium reward for them, but in terms of SJ, its a reasonable cap hit with consequences only if they need extension dollars post-Celebrini's ELC. Obviously SJ has all the leverage in a trade like this, so I'd imagine CAR has to add some sort of pick value as well.

    I would be fine taking on Orlov and or Kuznetsov but not KK. Certainly not for the picks offered

    So, you ovrpay Gustafsson and Chafield, dump the guy they got to bring the best defensive prospect in the world out of Russia, and completely destory the forward core? Brave

    Didn't realize Orlov had such an impact on Nikishin signing his ELC. My fault. Also Idk about destroying the forward core as 11/12 of them are currently on the roster haha

    All good. Orlov is Nikishin's idol, that's why he's being paid so much and not a single Canes fan will complain. The issue isn't the personnel, Rod's done a good enough job with that, it's the deployment. Staal isn't a 2C. Drury isn't a 3C. Staal shouldn't have been re-signed so Kotkaniemi could have settled into the 3C role he fits like a glove. The winger combination is also a little whacky. But again, Rod's doing weirder sh*t so, there's that. Morrow is 100% making this team next year too. Pesce's unlikely to come back, as is Skjei.

    Gotcha gotcha. I was more basing the line combos from DailyFaceoff which referenced yesterday's game, but I guess those are in a blender/tailored for specific matchups. It'll be interesting to see what you guys do this summer.

    No, you'd think so, but Rod's just decided to try and get fired in the middle of a playoff run. He's just been bad this postseason. Coming in, JAG (Guentzel - Aho - Jarvis) had been averaging 2 PPG each since the deadline. They were all dominating. So what does Rod do? Game one of the Isles series, swaps Jarvis with Svech for.... reasons? Rod is the issue with this team.

    People keep saying this, but he is 23. If they are throwing picks to get rid of him and he suddenly pops at his current cap hit until 2030 then someone looks like a freaking genius. If he is a complete hot mess in 24-25, his buyout cost is like 840k. I think it is well worth the risk. Which is why I don't see the Canes racing to chase him. They probably want to do something before NTC kicks in though.

    I agree, if they approach the sharks and throw picks at them to take KK, I probably do it
