Description

This is gonna be way worse than the half decade of Parayko for Nylander trades. As soon as Leafs fans decide they don't need a player on their contending team - because he's soft, mental midget, empty calorie scorer, etc - they assume his trade value is astronomical.

Look, the Blues are not good. They're not one piece or one swap away. And their GM is not interested in getting better. Or worse. The next couple of seasons are purely transitional. So why on earth would they even open a conversation around Marner with one year left and likely no desire to play in St Louis? And why would they give up the only guy that can play defense, plus 2-3 more important pieces to make it happen?

Go pawn off Mitchy somewhere sunny with no state tax. We don't want the dude for free.

Where was he in the playoffs?
Getting turnstyled by Pasta to lose the game 7 oh ya , and do not forget Domi and Bertuzzi both outscored him and ouplayed him Domi even winning a huge % of face offs!
But hey ya by all means keep Marner and give him 14 M and make him Captain so the GOLF 4 can start their tee times early!

It's usually a dead giveaway by how slanted the trade is one way or the other. I've seen people give him up for nothing and I've seen him traded for a team's 3 best assets. The fact is, I doubt it ever goes further than Treliving asking him to waive the NMC. And if it does, that means Mitch picks where he's going, and that won't be a fun trade for Leafs Land. If he's a nice guy (no evidence from past dealings) he'll give them a list that has more than one destination but we'll see.

Marner has somehow become one of the most underrated players in the NHL in a matter of a month.

I would love Marner on the Blues. However we aren’t in a position to shell out future assets or trade off the guys that fit what Toronto needs. If there’s something around Kyrou and Faulk for Marner at an extension number that isn’t much above 10m/year I’d be happy.

But with Kyrou on the roster, we can’t afford to add a Marner. And we can’t afford to trade Parayko.

The best thing that could happen is Marner tells Trevling that waiving his NMC is a hard pass and the whole Leaf organization stand behind Marner and they instantly squash any idea of that a trade is happening. It should be done before the end of the playoffs so the Summer of Marner trade rumors doesn't occur.

I get that the garbage media up there feeds them nothing but homer delusion fan blog nonsense. These guys don't even know the players, teams and situations they jabber on about, so it's not their fault to get wrong and sometimes really wrong ideas. I have wrong ideas about things all my life. Thats kinda how life works.

It's the refusing to listen when 43 people explain the same reality from a better vantage point is where the fault starts. I've learned so much about other teams and GMs by letting locals correct me. It doesn't hurt at all.

Two of the most common leaf posters are on this thread calling leaf fans stupid. How do the sheep of this site not realize that 90% of leaf posts on this site are entirely just troll posts. There isn't any real leaf fans posting on here.

Why?

A) everyone hates TO more than they like their own team, so it's impossible to even have a reasonable conversation with you goofs.

And

B) Trolls love amping people up and look what we have here. Some winner making a post to attack Marner trades they fully know are never going to be good.
